Mr. Hobbs has been active in the telecommunications and technology industry for more than thirty years, with senior level technical engineering assignments on the leading edge of emerging technologies. Most of his career emphasis has been on Data Network Design and Engineering beginning in the days of IBM SNA/SDLC, through Packet Switching and Frame Relay, and into today's massive deployments of SONET Fiber Optic based TCP/IP Secure Systems (VPN, MPLS and WWW). Of course, he has familiarity with Cisco routers and switches in the LAN, MAN, and WAN environments. Mr. Hobbs holds Adtran ACSP router and switch certification and is continuously engaged in additional industry certifications including Certification as an Arizona State Project Manager authorized to work on any large project for any agency in the state of Arizona.

Sr. IT Communications Consultant, State of Arizona Government Information Technology Agency (GITA)(FTE Contractor) (Present)

Sr. Technical Systems Consultant III - AT&T Global Services Select Accounts,

Systems Engineer - Cisco's Optical Networking Group,

Director WAN Technologies in a TCP/IP Secure Networking start-up company,

Member of Technical Staff at U S West Advanced Technologies,

Technical Design Consultant in Strategic Accounts at U S West Business Sales, and

CSR - Business Systems III in the pre-divestiture AT&T Bell System.

Assignments included four year tour at Bell Communications Research (BellCore) (now TelCordia).

 

Mr. Hobbs has also served for more than 14 years, in his spare evenings, on the faculty at the University of Phoenix (and previously at DeVry Institute) developing and teaching technical Graduate/Undergraduate courses in Telecommunications, Computer Information Systems/Information Technology, and Telecommunications Certificate Courses such as Advanced Telecommunications, Data Communications & Protocols, LAN/WAN, etc...

He has served as Chairman of TechForum, Western Communications Forum 1999 (Internet Security Threats), Chairman of TechForum, Western Communications Forum 1997 (National ISDN Applications). He is Chair Emeritus, of the ISDN Working Group - Bell Communications Research (now TelCordia).

Mr. Hobbs has a broad based knowledge of the Internet, World Wide Web, VPN, MPLS, Optical, DWDM, WAN, TCP/IP, FR, ISDN, xDSL, ATM, and SONET telecommunications disciplines. He is a Private Pilot, active member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, builds and flies experimental aircraft, and on the Board of Directors of EAA 1217.

Mr. Hobbs authored a white paper on "xDSL Technology Assessment" for Intelispan. Inc.

He also authored a white paper on "Enterprise Networks and National ISDN Synergy" which was published in Connexions, the Interoperability Report,1993 and the International Engineering Consortium's Annual Review of Communications, 1994-1995.
